"Nuts at Noon" leads off an all new daily poker tournament schedule at the Plaza Hotel and Casino, followed by "Four Play" at 4 p.m., "Str8 Poker" at 8 p.m. and the already popular "Midnight Madness."

All of the tournaments are a $50 buy-in and feature No Limit Texas Hold’em.

Since poker guru, Ben Magee, took over as director of poker tournaments a few months ago, the classic Plaza Poker Room has launched a series of events to appeal to the seasoned player, as well as amateurs.

"With the current popularity of poker worldwide we wanted to give players from all over the globe a chance to enter and win a No-Limit Hold’em tournament," said Magee. "Poker in downtown Las Vegas has so much history and we want to allow our guests to add to that rich poker history."

In addition to the new tournament schedule, the Plaza poker room is now non-smoking. More renovations in the poker room and a world-class poker tournament are planned for the near future.

The Plaza Hotel & Casino was purchased, along with the ÂíVegas Club, Western Hotel and Gold Spike Hotel & Casino, from Jackie Gaughan by Barrick Gaming in March 2004 as the first step in the company’s vision to redevelop much of downtown Las Vegas.
