Gustafsson worth a shot against DC

Daniel Cormier defends his UFC ‘Jon Jones’ Light Heavyweight Championship against Alexander Gustafsson tonight on PPV.
I call the championship that because; although Cormier won the vacant title after Jones was stripped for criminal reasons, 'Bones' completely dominated Cormier and for now is a just a placeholder. Gustafsson was somehow given a title shot coming off a loss…..what are you doing Dana White?
It’s sadly not a marquee fight until Jones comes back, but in fairness to the guys who are active it is an interesting fight.
I am not sure DC feels like the legit champion as he can’t stop talking about fighting Jones again. Realistically I don’t see that fight going any different. With that in mind, I think DC might be completely looking at that fight with blinders on, not respecting Gustafsson.
When it comes to ‘The Mauler’ he has his own issues. As I mentioned, he is coming off a loss and rumors swirled that he might hang up his gloves. Seemingly a title shot cured what ailed him so here we are.
Both fighters are coming in with possible distractions. DC’s distraction might be more of a look ahead, where maybe Gustafsson will be reenergized knowing he finally has his title rematch. Gustafsson’s distraction ‘retirement’ might have been vanquished while I think Cormier still has 'Bones' on the brain.
DC was in trouble briefly against Anthony Johnson the vacant title fight. Rumble was probably a punch away from finishing Cormier, something he was able to do against Gustafsson.
At such a high betting price over +200, take a shot on 'The Mauler' digging down deep and capturing the UFC Jon Jones title. After all wouldn’t we rather see Gus-Bones 2 before we see DC-Bones 2?
Salaries listed are for Kountermove.com and DraftKings:
Ruslan Magomedov (KM $5,000; DK $9,900) – All I can say is if Shawn Jordan beats this guy I will be stunned. Never been high on Jordan and I think Magomedov rolls him easy, $5K salary looks like a steal. Projection: KO1.
Diamonds in the Rough
Alexander Gustafsson (KM $4,900; DK $8,400) – As I said above, Gustafsson is worth a shot. He is not only fighting DC, he’s fighting for his passion for the sport. If he has it somewhere in his belly, we will be looking at new champion. The Mauler looks like a better play for the betting world but with five possible rounds, Gustafsson should be worth his price. Projection: KO4.
Albert Tumenov (KM $4,800; DK $10,300 (no play on DK)) – A solid favorite in the betting world (high of -290) getting him under average looks like a steal. Fact is both Tumenov and Alan Jouban love to slug it out both come in over 65% in knockout victories. Tumenov should be favored for a reason. Projection: KO2.
