For all of my NFL Draft fanatics out there the time has finally come. Vegas is taking wagers on the Draft!
On April 7 the Nevada Gaming Control Board approved betting, although it does have restrictions, on the NFL Draft if books wish to post numbers on the event, which takes place April 27-29. The first round is April 27, while the second and third rounds are April 28 and rounds four through seven, April 29.
The restrictions for this season prohibit bettors from picking players to go No. 1 or any other particular draft selection. But there will be wagering options like OVER/UNDER quarterbacks taken in Round 1, SEC Players -5.5, PAC 12 Players taken in Round 1, etc. Hopefully just getting things started will lead to more options next season like maybe a YES/NO on certain players in draft positions.
One BIG thing to keep in mind is betting for these props closes the night PRIOR to the draft. Now let me highlight some of the options around town.
Station Casinos has brought out a couple of their own props that were not offered at press time by the other books in this article: Number of Ohio State players selected in Round 1 (Total 3 OVER +125/-155); Number of PAC 12 players selected in Round 1 (Total 7 OVER +115, UNDER -145); Number of Wide Receivers selected (Total 3 OVER -120, UNDER -110).
Number of Running Backs selected (Total 3 OVER -110, UNDER -120). William Hill had a different number (Total 2.5 OVER -240, UNDER +200); South Point also had 2.5.
There are plenty of options on the Las Vegas Strip as Caesars properties have a number of props for the NFL Draft fan. Players selected in Round 1 from these schools: Alabama (Total 4.5 OVER -145, UNDER +115); LSU (Total 2.5 OVER +105/-135); Number of SEC Players selected (Total 11.5 OVER -105, UNDER -125). Number of Quarterbacks taken in Round 1 (Total 3.5 OVER +140/-170).
All of these bets are offered at South Point, Station Casinos and William Hill as well.
How about conference vs. conference: SEC -5.5 vs. PAC 12; SEC -4.5 vs. BIG 10; Most players picked in Round 1: Defense -5.5 vs. Offense. Round of first placekicker drafted: Round 1-3 +240, Round 4-7 -280. These bets were also available at William Hill.
BIG 10 -.5 vs. PAC 12 was offered at Caesars and William Hill. Plenty of options are around as well as some decent prices on the same bets, depending on what you like. Here are my betting selections:
SEC -5.5 vs. PAC 12 take at William Hill +110; PAC 12 UNDER 7 at Station Casinos -145; Running Backs selected OVER 3 at Station Casinos -110;
Quarterbacks selected OVER 3.5 at South Point +155. I expect Deshaun Watson (Clemson), Mitch Trubisky (UNC), Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech) and either DeShone Kizer (Notre Dame) or Davis Webb (Cal).
Taking a look at the week that was in USFantasy, in Baseball this past Thursday Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna paid $27.20 for $2 and the EXACTA with Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson paid $163.60 for $2. Tuesday saw Nationals P Gio Gonzalez pay $14.80 for $2 but the $2 EXACTA of Gio and Rockies P Antonio Senzatlea was $216.20!
At the RBC Heritage golf tournament Webb Simpson paid $35.20 in the WIN circle for $2, while the EXACTA with Jason Dufner was $133 for $2.
