Saturday's NHL schedule offers the opportunity to play a wacky four-team parlay, betting against teams with four or more days' rest when facing teams with only one or no days' rest. But get to the window early to include all four since one game starts at 11 a.m. PT.
This season, teams with one or no days' rest are 18-6 against the well-rested squads. Teams with no rest are 8-3 in this scenario. Those with one day off are 10-3 against teams off four-plus days.
An example of this surprisingly powerful trend came Friday night when the league's worst team, Colorado, off a shutout loss at Buffalo the night before, won at Carolina 2-1 in overtime. The Hurricanes, who went off at -270, had been off five days.
Saturday's early game has host Montreal (5 days off) vs. Winnipeg (1 day off); The later schedule has Tampa Bay (6 off) at Dallas (1 off), Chicago (6 off) playing host to Edmonton (1 off) and Nashville (5 off) at Minnesota (1 off).
On Sunday there's an extreme scheduling quirk when Boston, which hasn't played since last Sunday, travels to face the Sharks in San Jose. The Sharks played at Arizona on Saturday.
