The Vegas Golden Knights look for yet another home ice victory when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena. The Lightning own the best record in the NHL and their 50 points are nine better than second-place Toronto in the Atlantic Division.

Vegas (21-9-0-2, 13-2-0-1 home, 44 points) moved into a first-place tie with the LA Kings by virtue of Sunday’s 5-2 victory over Florida. Jonathan Marchessault had a goal and two assists, and Erik Haula scored the game-winner with 8:20 remaining. Nate Schmidt, Colin Miller and James Neal also had goals for Vegas, which is tied with the Lightning and Rangers for the most home wins in the league (13).

Tampa Bay (24-6-1, 11-4 road) is riding a seven-game winning streak and has taken the first three games of its current road trip posting victories in St. Louis, Arizona and Colorado. They defeated the Avalanche for the second time in nine days, posting a 6-5 decision on Saturday. Anton Stralman scored twice and Yanni Gourde had a goal and two assists for Tampa Bay, which is unbeaten in December (7-0).

The Golden Knights are 6-1 in their last seven outings including three shootout victories, one overtime win and another decided by one goal.

The Lightning led by NHL’s top scorer Nikita Kucherov are beating all-comers. They’re on a 5-0 run against the Pacific Division and are 21-5 in their past 26 against the West. The Lightning are 17-15 on the puckline (+993) while the Golden Knights are 21-11 (+1155)
