It didn’t take long for the Riviera’s race and sports book to find a new home.

With William Hill agreeing to take over Leroy’s and Cal Neva pending Gaming Control Board approval sometime next year, it figured that Leroy’s lone Strip property would be up for grabs.

And Lucky’s didn’t waste much time seizing the opportunity for its first Strip resort presence.

"We’re hoping to have the race and sports book operating under Lucky’s by the beginning of football season," said Dan Shapiro, director of marketing for Lucky’s. "The Riveria came to us with a request for proposal and our bid was selected over a few other sports book operators."

Shapiro said the plan was to re-locate the Riviera book to an area more onto the casino floor where there is more action. The Riviera was the hub at Leroy’s and is still taking bets.

The book will feature Lucky’s sports wagering menu, and guests will enjoy many enhancements to the race and sports book, including odds display boards, flat screen TVs for race and sports viewing and individual carrels for horseplayers.

The Riviera will designate a special short-term parking area for easy access by locals in the valet parking area. The new ownership licensed last month selected Lucky’s as its race and sports book operator after issuing a formal request for proposals.

"Lucky’s is unquestionably the leading race and sports book provider and we are excited to partner with them," said Andy Choy, president and CEO of the Riviera. "We were impressed with their proposal and we expect their premium betting product and high standards of customer service to resonate with our customers."

Lucky’s President and CEO Joe Asher called the Riv, "a classic, storied property" and stated he looks forward to providing a variety of betting options to the casino. "We are excited to bring our critically acclaimed wagering menu to the Las Vegas Strip and to partner with the fine people at the Riviera."

Brandywine Bookmaking LLC, under the Lucky’s brand name, currently operates and manages 16 race and sports books in casinos throughout Nevada, including Fitzgeralds, the Plaza Hotel & Casino and Terrible’s Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Primm Valley Resort, Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s in Primm, Terrible’s Town and Terrible’s Lakeside in Pahrump, Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall and River Palms Casino Resort in Laughlin, Indian Springs Casino in Indian Springs, Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks, Casino Fandango in Carson City and the Red Lion and High Desert Inn in Elko.
