N.J. appeals Congressional ban on sports betting

Feb 24, 2014 8:07 PM

New Jersey has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to declare the Congressional ban on sports wagering unconstitutional.

The state is appealing a 1982 law that permits sports wagering only in Nevada, Delaware, Oregon and Montana.

A federal appeals court has already ruled against New Jersey.

Officials pointed out there is no guarantee the Supreme Court will even agree to hear the appeal.
