Rivalry weekend in college football over the extended Thanksgiving Holiday is one of the best times of the season to cash in a few winning bets.
In a quick recap of last week, we started things off with a loss when BYU dropped a 16-10 decision against Massachusetts as a 3.5-point favorite. Things quickly turned around when Louisiana-Monroe was able to cover as a heavy 35.5-point underdog in a 28-point loss to Auburn.
However, in our final pick of the day we came up short with Colorado State as a 32-point favorite in the Rams’ 42-14 victory against San Jose State.
Here are this week’s selections:
Take MISSOURI (-11.5)
After losing five of their first six games straight-up, the Tigers come into their season finale Friday riding a five-game winning streak. They hammered Vanderbilt, 45-17, on Saturday as 7.5-point road favorites to cover against the spread for the seventh time in a row. Missouri has been able to score at least 45 points in each of its last five games while holding opponents to an average of just 16.6 points.
Arkansas has now lost five of its last seven games SU following Saturday’s 28-21 setback against Mississippi State as a 13.5-point underdog at home. Even with the cover on the closing spread, its record ATS this season stands at a costly 3-8. The Razorbacks are averaging 27.3 points per game behind a fairly decent run game, but their defense is tied for 110th in the nation in points allowed (35.1).
Take STANFORD (+2.5)
vs. Notre Dame
The Cardinal are sitting in the top spot in the Pac-12 North Division standings at 7-1 in conference play. Overall, they are 8-3 SU with a 4-6-1 record ATS after failing to cover in Saturday’s 17-14 victory against California as 14-point home favorites. This followed a huge 30-22 victory against Washington at home as 6.5-point underdogs to secure a spot in the Pac-12 title game.
After a stunning 41-8 loss to Miami on Nov. 11 as 3.5-point road favorites, the Fighting Irish struggled to get past Navy this past Saturday in a 24-17 victory at home as 20-point favorites.
Notre Dame is 9-2 SU on the year with a 7-4 record ATS. However, one of the big reasons why we are going against the Irish this Saturday is the lingering hangover from the loss to the Hurricanes that probably cost them a spot in this season’s College Football Playoff.
Take FRESNO STATE (+7)
vs. Boise State
The Bulldogs close out their Mountain West schedule after posting a SU 8-3 record in their first 11 games while going a profitable 8-2-1 ATS. This Saturday’s matchup will be a preview of the MWC Championship with both teams at the top of the standings in their respective division race. Fresno State’s run to the West Division title was fueled by a balanced offensive attack that averaged 27.7 PPG complementing a defense that is 12th in the nation in points allowed (17.3).
Boise State is a perfect 7-0 in conference play as part of a SU overall record of 9-2. It has covered in its last four games to improve to 8-3 ATS. While the Broncos’ defense has remained stout against the majority of the Mountain West teams it has faced this season, this unit was still tagged for 52 points in a wild seven-point win against Colorado State on Nov. 11. We see this Saturday’s matchup ending up much closer than the generous seven-point spread on the board.
