The short but sweet all-grass thoroughbred meeting at Kentucky Downs in Franklin is set to open on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Horseplayers in the Bluegrass State and at simulcast outposts internationally, including Nevada, will be offered just five-days of top-tier action on the track’s unique, European-style grass course. The meet attracts many of the best grass horses in the nation thanks to $10 million in purses offered over the five days of racing.
Following opening day Saturday, racing will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 6, Saturday Sept. 8, Sunday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 13 with first post at 2:25 pm (EDT), 11:25 am (PDT).
Purses at the track are bolstered by a year-round slot machine-like operation using historical racing terminals. Such terminals utilize previous race results to randomly produce payoffs for players.
