In the journalistic world, you occasionally find the obvious overplayed while the real lead is buried well back in the story and far away from the first paragraph. That would certainly apply to the last two weeks in the life of the Chicago White Sox.
The Sox were long since buried in their chase to win the AL Central, not that they were ever considered in the first place. And while the overall 53-81 record isn’t going to draw Chicagoland away from their favorite son Cubbies on the north side, the White Sox since Aug. 14 are 11-5. And some of the winnings came against the New York Yankees.
