UFC President Dana White says he believes the Oct. 6 super-fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will be the biggest event in the sport’s history.
White remains confident the matchup will draw two million pay-per-view buys netting in excess of $130 million in revenue from remote viewership alone. White told Yahoo Sports, “Believe me when I tell you, this will be massive.”
Tickets for the fight at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip sold out in three hours, which should earn the UFC an additional $15 million at the gate.
UFC fans have long anticipated the fight between McGregor and Nurmagomedov with the Russian generally regarded as the only real threat to the high-spirited Irishman’s UFC legacy.
The pair will face off at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in an event expected to boost Las Vegas visitation in the manner of the unexpectedly exciting and competitive boxing match last August when Floyd Mayweather Jr. TKO’d McGregor.
Consensus odds currently show Nurmagomedov, the current UFC lightweight champion, favored to win at -170 with McGregor at +140.
