Indiana enjoyed its greatest growth spurt in sports betting in November with a handle of $147.3 million.
The number exceeded the total for the state’s first two months combined. Indiana began taking wagers on sports in September.
According to figures from the Indiana Gaming Commission released Tuesday, the increase in handle from October to November was over 60 percent. Betting on basketball, both college and the NBA was a contributing factor to the increase as $33.6 million was wagered on basketball last month compared to $6.2 million in October, which was prior to the college hoops season getting under way.
Football remained the No. 1 betting option with $57.7 million wagered on the NFL and college football.
Mobile betting also contributed to the record handle as DraftKings reported a handle of just over $64 million. FanDuel’s handle was reported at $23.7 million and BetRivers’ handle was $8.4 million.
Eleven of the state’s 13 retail books saw increases in handle with Horseshoe in Hammond generating just under $13 million in handle and Hollywood Lawrenceburg bringing in $8.8 million.
