Minnesota (25-16, 14-6 home) put together one of its most complete efforts of the season in Friday’s 116-98 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Not only did the T-Wolves hold aits fifth straight opponent under 100 points, they took care of business on the other end dishing out 26 assists and shooting 48.9 percent from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double in the New Orleans game (21/16 rebounds) and has doubled up in each of the last five games to bring his league-leading total to 33.
Cleveland (26-13, 11-9 road) was already among the league leaders in scoring before Isaiah Thomas (hip) returned from his 36- game absence. Thomas made his first start on Saturday, scoring 19 points in 21 minutes. He gives the Cavs a solid Plan B behind James who was an assist shy of a triple-double while collecting 33 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and six steals in Saturday’s 131-127 victory over Orlando.
The Cavaliers have struggled ATS this season going 12-26-1 overall including a road mark of 9-11. Cleveland took both of last year’s meetings with James averaging 26 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds.
The Cavs are 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall. They’re 1-3-1 ATS in their last five against the Northwest Division and 5-16-1 ATS in the last 22 against the Western Conference. The T-Wolves are 3-10-1 ATS last 14 overall.
