VIP Golf's Dirty Dozen | The worst in Golf against the spread coupled with bonehead decisions.
Dustin Johnson returns to his South Carolina roots this week at one of the iconic venues in American golf, Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island for the RBC Heritage.
Fresh off the Masters where he was on the first page of the leaderboard at times but not really in striking distance of winner Patrick Reed, Johnson will have plenty of support from his days playing collegiately at Coastal Carolina.
The signature hole is the finishing 18th surrounded by million-dollar boats In Calibogue Sound and the iconic lighthouse dressed up in plaid. Johnson, the world’s No. 1, is the tourney and betting favorite. He figures to be challenged by Paul Casey, who threatened the Augusta National course record of 63 in his final round of the Masters and has played great golf since March.
Harbour Town is one of the shorter courses on tour with much smaller greens than at Augusta National but also a thinking man’s layout. It’s a personal favorite of our Dirty Dozen staff of three (me, myself and I), who hung around the 18th many a time. We never did get an invite on one of the yachts, but the gift shops were well worth the visit.
