MMA rumors true

For once the rumors were true. Brock Lesnar announced his return to professional fighting at a press conference held with Dana White this week.

Blaming a high protein diet for the illness that has kept him out of the ring, Lesnar plans to return to the UFC sometime this year.

The UFC just announced it’s 11th season of the “Ultimate Fighter” (TUF) will premier on March 31, 2010. MMA legends and previous TUF coaches, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Tito “The Huntington Beach Badboy” Ortiz will continue their long standing rivalry this season.

Renzo Gracie, of the famed MMA fight family, will make his UFC debut in April against Matt Hughes at the ripe age of 43 years old.

Strikeforce announced their upcoming event on Feb. 26 in San Jose, Calif. The card will feature women’s world bantamweight championship with Sarah Kaufman (10-0) against Japan’s Takayo Hashi (12-1).

In local news, Shawn Tompkins is training Mark Coleman at the TapouT Research & Development Training Center to fight his former boss, Randy Couture from Xtreme Couture in UFC:109 on Feb. 6 at Mandalay Bay. Tompkins, of Team Tompkins, left Xtreme Couture for the move to TapouT Research & Development Training Center in November, 2009.
