With two UFC title fights on the card, UFC 111 will surely provide an exciting weekend for all mixed martial arts (MMA) fans. UFC 111 will take place Saturday, March 27 in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Georges St-Pierre (pictured), current UFC welterweight champion, will defend his title for a six-win streak against British fighter, Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy. Hardy, undefeated in the UFC, looks to take the belt as the main event of the evening.
Frank Mir, two-time heavyweight champion will face off against the number one contender, Shane Carwin, for the interim UFC heavyweight belt which was previously held by Brock Lesnar.
This just in! Thiago Alves was removed from the UFC 111 card for a medical licensing issue rumored to be a failed CT scan. Opponent Jon Fitch will now face Ben Saunders, who was also listed on the UFC 111 card to face Jake Ellenberger.
Also listed on the UFC 111 card is Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham and Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes.
The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz will premier March 31 on Spike. This season, TapouT Training Center’s Team Tompkins fighter Brad Tavares is the youngest of this season’s cast members and the only Las Vegas resident.
In local MMA news, Tuff-N-Uff returns to the Orleans Hotel & Casino to feature the vacant 155-pound Tuff-N-Uff championship bout with Ryan Couture (5-1) against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sensation Sean Bollinger (1-0). The 15-bout card also features the four-woman 115-pound tournament showcasing Gabriella Lakoczky (0-1) vs. Rachel Nelson (1-0) and Ashley Cummins (3-0) against Sarah Goodlaxson (2-0).
