Station Casinos is reminding its customers that its sports books are now taking action on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events.
It’s the first time taking UFC bets since the Fertitta brothers sold their majority stake in the UFC.
The sale of the UFC was announced in July and completed in August. The new owners are WME/IMG, which also represents UFC fighters and the UFC itself.
Former UFC majority owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta Jr. own a controlling interest in Red Rock Resorts, the parent company of Station Casinos. The brothers had been honoring a request by Nevada gaming regulators that Station sports books not take bets on UFC events.
Tonight’s UFC main event at Madison Square Garden, its first ever in New York City, pits featherweight champion Conor McGregor challenging Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title. A new law allowing the previously banned mixed martial arts events in the New York City was passed earlier this year.
