Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson. Two of the most storied rivalries in sports come together this Sunday at Medalist Golf Club in Florida, as the four will be in a competition involving a $10 million donation to benefit COVID-19 relief.
Manning and Woods will be teaming up in “The Match: Champions for Charity,” while Brady is partnered with Mickelson. Manning/Woods are currently a -185 favorite at William Hill after opening at -190 and reaching as high as -200. Brady/Mickelson, meanwhile, are priced at +165.
William Hill bettors are split regarding who they think will win the event. The underdog has been attracting more bets, as Brady/Mickelson have captured 58% of the total number of tickets. Manning/Woods, however, have received 57% of the total dollars wagered.
William Hill also has 30 prop bets available for the competition across Nevada and New Jersey, including the result for each of the 18 holes, the team in the lead after the front nine and even whether there will be a hole in one.
The most popularly bet prop in terms of total dollars wagered is will “either team record an eagle.” After opening at -110, “NO” has shifted all the way to -260. Despite getting only 32% of the total number of tickets, “NO” has commanded 94% of the total dollars wagered for will either team record an eagle.
The biggest wager placed on a prop bet was one Nevada bettor placing $1,020 on “NO” at -340 for “will there be extra holes,” which could end up as a potential total payout of $1,320. “NO” for “will there be extra holes” is now sitting at -400.
This 18-hole competition will consist of two different formats. The front nine will be four ball play, meaning that each of the four golfers will be playing only with his golf ball throughout the hole and the lower of the partners’ scores will count as the team’s score for that hole. The back nine will be alternate shot play, where the partners share one golf ball per hole and alternate taking shots.
