HOLLYWOOD PARK

AMORACCHIUS: Second time starter was going long and trying the grass (both for the first time). He broke slow and then got squeezed back to last at the start. Made a big late run to just miss the place by a head in an excellent try.

HOORAYFORHOLLYWOOD: Just did miss holding off his stablemate the odds-on Smash in his last race. Lost by a nostril, while almost three-lengths clear of the rest. He will be a solid single in the picks next time out.

KALK BAY: First timer for trainer John Sadler with Garrett Gomez riding was let go at 12-1. He broke slow, steadied in the early going and dropped back. It looked like he could be eased (was dead last until the top of the lane) when he unleashed an eye catching late move to finish a close fourth. $$$$$

UBETSHESROYALTY: Bruce Headley first time starter was trying the grass going six furlongs and her breeding said she could handle it. Ran a winning race while closing strongly to just miss second by a neck and first by a half length. This girl will love going long and so will we. Will dig deep if we see her going long on the grass next time out. $$$$$

PRAYER FOR RELIEF: Was making his 3yo debut after running some good races as a 2yo last year including a second place finish behind Comma To The Top. Ran big race here to beat some good colts including Jakesam. He looks like a repeater.

ROXANNE O: Was slow into stride in this mile turf race and she was far back on this speed favoring turf course, she made a big late run against the bias finishing fast to pick up the show dough and looks to be sitting on the maiden breaker.

QUINTONS DESTINY: You must take notice especially this time of year when trainer AC Avila sends out a horse and it takes some big early money like this one did in the second race on May 30. His morning line was 8-1 and looking at his past performances little suggested with the exception of a real good work that he would take any money. Yet the first flash on the tote had him at 7-2 and that sent me to the window. His odds eased up and he was let go at 13-1, going wire-to-wire for an easy win paying $28.20. This is a must watch especially when the Del Mar meet opens as that is where he does his best work.

GOLDEN GATE

VALLEY NEWS: First time starter chased the lone speed who opened up a five-length lead, she never gave up and came on strong but lost the bob, she was six-lengths clear of the rest and will be a solid play next time out. $$$

THISISMYSTAGE: Trainer Craig Dollase had this well bred filly in training at Hollywood Park all along but sent her here for this mile turf race. She is bred in the purple for the grass and ran a great race despite stumbling at the start to be far back, Finished second and will be hard to beat next time out. $$$

DAY TIME BALLET: Comebacker looked great on the track but was let go at 42-1 in the betting. Stormed down the lane to win going away. A sweet victory and could repeat at another big price.
