A parade of longshots on Sunday at Santa Anita resulted in a hefty two-day Pick Six carryover of $311,096 – and the expectation that Thursday’s total Pick Six pool will exceed $1 million.
Santa Anita will offer an eight-race program on Thursday, with the Pick Six covering races three through eight. Barring late scratches, a total of 48 horses are set to compete in Thursday’s “Six,” for an average of eight runners per race.

In his most serious drill to date, Santa Anita based Triple Crown Champion American Pharoah worked six furlongs in 1:10.80 this morning for Bob Baffert as the clock continues to tick down to a possible epic showdown with superstar mare Beholder and others in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic Oct. 31 at Keeneland.
