Churchill Downs Inc. in Louisville has now received preliminary approval for more than half a million dollars in state tax incentives.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority Thursday authorized as much as $600,000 in incentives to offset the costs of construction materials and building fixtures for the project, which will be built at Churchill Downs’ former Trackside training and simulcast wagering facility on Poplar Level Road in Louisville.
The company has already received conditional approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission for the establishment of a historical race wagering facility in Louisville.
Historical racing terminals function similar to video poker machines with players wagering on results of previously held horse races.
