Maiden 2yo fillies go down the hill to start off this tough early pick five. We say wow when Kent D gets on a runner for D’Amato and he gets on No. 4 Summer’s Indy who gets her first try on the grass and a turn back in distance. D’Amato hits at better than .40% when going sprint-route-sprint. To make things look like a two horse race Mike Smith hops on second time starter No. 7 Hope Wins who is the stablemate of Summer’s Lady and ran an ok 3rd going 5 furlongs on the Del Mar grass. No. 9 Himmah is the unknown runner here as she is in from Ireland where she hit the board in for of 7 turf races. No. 12 Bunny Yogurt gets back going down the hill where she missed by just 1-1/2 lengths in her one try down the hill. 4*-7*/9-12

Race 2

2yo maidens go 1-1/16 and we get two runners exiting our HTW list. No. 1 Peace who exits as a $$$$$ play after just missing by a head last out going a mile at Del Mar and No. 4 Restoring Hope who lost by a nostril first out and now goes long. 1**-4

Race 3

$12,500 claimers go six furlongs. Irad Ortiz Jr. is in town and will jump on the speedy Peter Miller dropper No. 4 Pundy who will need to deal with the speedy No. 6 Devils Informer. No. 1 Informality will sit back and make a late run at the speed as well as No. 3 Oopper Wallah who is a reclaim by Chew.

THE $100K GRADE III ROBERT J. FRANKEL AT 1-1/8 ON THE GRASS FOR FILLIES AND MARES

Irad Ortiz Jr and Chad Brown hook up with the New York shipper No. 1 Penjade. No. 3 Laseen exits our HTW list off a good 3rd last out, she will be making a late run for a piece of the pie. Javier Castellano gets back on No. 4 Elysea’s World also for Chad Brown. 1-4-3

Race 5

$30k maiden 2yo go six furlongs. No. 3 Charlie Cowden exits our HTW list and gets his second try at this level, he gets Bejarano today. No. 10 Ridgefield Rocket also gets his second try at this level after a good second last out. 3**-10

Race 6

$40k optional runners go 1-1/16 on the main. No. 4 Camino de Estrella exits our HTW list of a head loss last out, Bejarano sticks. No. 6 Kristi’s Copilot has big early speed and owns three wins here. No. 10 Sheer Flattery looks the one to beat off his back to back second at this level, he has hit the board in all four of his starts here. 10**-4-6

Race 7

THE $300K GRADE I AMERICAN OAKS AT 1-1/4 ON THE GRASS FOR 3YO FILLIES

Big race Mike Smith gets on No. 4 Daddys Lil Darling for Ken McPeak. Irad sticks with the Chad Brown runner No. 8 Rymska who is looking for her 4th straight win. The runner to beat is the other Chad runner No. 9 New Money Honey with Javier Castellano, she won the Belmont Oaks at this distance on the grass, in fact she is the only runner who has gone this distance. 9**-4-8

Race 8

THE $100K GRADE III MIDNIGHT LUTE AT 6-1/2 FURLONGS ON THE DIRT

No. 4 Masochistic gets his first start for Baffert after moving from the Ron Ellis barn. No. 5 Americanize, Castellano gets on No. 8 Calculator for Peter Miller, he likes this track. 4-5-8

Race 9

In the last race of the day we gets $25k claimers going a mile on the grass. No. 1 South Americain gets Irad riding for Sadler and this gelding’s last win came here at this mile turf distance at this claiming price. The price play is No. 8 Ebadan who owns two wins here and will catch a fast early pace, he will be making a late run. No. 11 Urban Bourbon is the other price play here with Kent D getting on for Morey.
