The Cheltenham Festival is almost bringing the horse-racing world to a standstill if the stories making headlines are anything to go by. However, this is not a surprise as the only other event that can measure up to its glamour is the Grand National. The event is held annually and is set to take place between Tuesday, 13 March and Friday, 16 March. All the information regarding this event is available on multiple platforms and so it is quite easy to keep yourself updated.
The entries for the handicap races have already been revealed. A total of 844 horses are expected to turn up for the 10 handicap races. This year's race is set to be very competitive with several races being wide open. It will be interesting to see whether Sizing John will be able to defend his Gold Cup title or will it be taken by one of the young talents, among them being, Apple's Shakira, Samcro, and Next Destination. In addition, some of the Festival Champions such as Buveur D'Air are scheduled to make a return this year and it would be an insult to say that Prestbury Park will not be lit up.
Tickets for all 4 days are still available. But it is recommended that you buy one early enough as they are issued on ‘first come first served’ basis. The event attracts more than 260,000 people and so you cannot rely on the gate tickets, as their availability is not guaranteed. If you cannot make it to the Prestbury Park in Gloucestershire, you can still follow the events through ITV. They have promised to have a live coverage of the first 4 races every day. Moreover, you can stream the races online or get the results through the official Cheltenham Festival website.
In addition to racing and entertainment, the races attract a lot of betting activities throughout the four days. There are many punters who are interested in Cheltenham betting and it would be wise to consider a few favorites this year. Topping the list is Might Bite having 3-1 odds. Native River and Sizing John are also possible candidates for the top three positions in the gold cup and each of them has 6-1 odds. Harrington also has a chance in this year’s event, riding the back of Our Duke, who clinched the number 1 position in the Irish National Race. He has 8-1 odds. In addition to horses, riders and trainers you need to consider your bookmarker a great deal if you are a serious punter. William Hill is offering £30 free for every £10 placed. In Bet Victor, you are assured of £20, if you place a bet exceeding £10. You can also join Unibet where they have a risk-free £30 bet. What this means is that you get a refund of up to £30 in case you lose. The list is not even halfway yet. There are other bookmarkers that have decided to give 100% match bonus such as Ladbrokes. Nevertheless, most of these offers have timelines and you should ensure you get all the information before signing up.
As for the ticket prices, Champion Day will cost you £40 or £380 for hospitality. The tickets for Wednesday cost exactly the same. On Thursday, the hospitality ticket costs £395. The tickets for the Gold Cup Day are going for £55 and hospitality from £495. In addition to horse racing, fans will be treated to music from the Hipcats, Taylor and the Mason, the Wickermen as well as the Lucky 15s. Many celebrities also make their way into the racecourse and you should not be surprised in case you bump into one of your favorite icons.
