New York trainer David Jacobson has told the Daily Racing Form he’s transferred his New York horses to other trainers and will now focus on his Southern California runners.
Jacobson has moved about 15 to 20 New York runners to trainer Gary Gullo, including several he owns and told the DRF’s Dave Grening he was looking forward to reducing his frequent travel from coast to coast. Jacobson also said he wants to spend more time with his twin grandsons, who are in California.
The trainer had maintained a small Southern California stable in recent years and had met some criticism for claiming local runners and shipping them east.
Jacobson set a NYRA record in 2013 with 164 wins, but only had three winners from 35 runners at Belmont's spring meet.
