As a horse player, this bettor is anxiously awaiting the end of the Fairplex at Los Alamitos 12-day race meet. With real racing opening at Santa Anita on Thursday, Sept. 27 we here at GamingToday are already making plans.

Back by popular demand will be my pick five plays for opening day and it will continue every Thursday in GT throughout the meet.

All races will be available every racing day at Santa Anita on our great web site www.gamingtoday.com. With the opening at the Great Race Place the take out will be more to our liking and we look forward to getting back to turf racing. When the meet starts this bettor will be tweeting out notes on a daily basis including late works and late plays in our never ending commitment for news you can bet on.

With just eight racing days left in the Fairplex at Los Al meet, we will still look for a play or two and all races will be handicapped on our website www.gamingtoday.com.

Thursday’s racing card looks to offer little in the price range but we will be seeking singles in the 50-cent pick five. This is the only bet we will be making there since they went to the $1 pick fours.

In Race 3 on Thursday, we will be singling No. 5 Sellwood just sitting on the win for trainer Jeff Mullins who doesn’t run many here. Sellwood gets a new jockey with the underrated Agapito Delgadillo on and this 3yo had a big time work on Sept. 3. This will be his first start on the dirt after running his first seven races on the grass. The switch could be what he needs to find the winners circle.

On Friday at Los Alamitos TB in Race 8, trainer Saldana has run three horses at the meet including No. 4 Princess Kendra who he wheels back in just six days off a good second here on the 8th. Ruben Fuentes is back on and he is having a good meet.

With Santa Anita opening, if you are looking to take a little road trip, take the short 3.5 hour drive to Arcadia for a day at the Great Race Place. You will fall in love with not only Santa Anita but horse racing in general.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter @RSaberGT, and don’t forget to get out and make a bet. You could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
