Take 970 MINNESOTA TWINS (-120) over Cleveland Indians (5:10 pm PT)
The Minnesota Twins go for a sweep of the Cleveland Indians when the two teams close out their three-game series at Target Field. In tonight’s series finale Kyle Gibson (-120) will try for his 11th win of the year while the visiting Tribe will counter with rookie right-hander Cody Anderson (+100).
The Twins (78-73) seemingly put their playoff hopes in jeopardy by losing five straight but have bounced back and are within one game of Houston for the second American League wild-card spot. Meanwhile the Indians (74-76) are fading badly. They’ve managed just 12 hits and three runs through the first two games of this series and are now 4½ back of the Astros.
Minnesota will turn to Gibson (10-10, 3.73) in the hope of receiving a fourth consecutive superb start after Tyler Duffey, Ervin Santana and Phil Hughes combined to allow one run over 19 innings during the team's winning streak. The Indiana native is 6-4 at home this season and hasn't lost at Target Field since July 26. He’s made five career starts versus Cleveland, going 1-1 with a 5.61 ERA.
Cleveland will look to Anderson (5-3, 3.48) to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. He’ll be after his fourth consecutive win and first against the Twins. In his only career appearance against Minnesota he surrendered six runs in 2.2 innings but escaped with a no-decision.
