With the start of the season just days away, teams are signing and dealing players, while daily we see baseball injuries, updates and news.

This week’s top headlines: In case you missed it, the top news stories this week are:

Giants LH Madison Bumgarner is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a left hand fracture.

Twins 3B Miguel Sano not suspended for an off-the-field incident.

Mets OF Michael Conforto is ahead of schedule to return from shoulder injury. The team expects him back by May 1.

Red Sox RH Steven Wright is serving a 15-game suspension for an off-the-field incident. Red Sox C Christian Vasquez received a contract extension through 2021.

Yankees OF Aaron Judge may start the season in the leadoff spot.

Marlins RH Dan Straily joins a depleted roster on the DL, with forearm tightness and inflammation.

Mets RH Seth Lugo figures to be a starter as RH Zack Wheeler was sent down to the 51’s.

Cardinals RP Luke Gregerson will start the season on the DL with a hamstring issue. RH Adam Wainwright will start the season on the DL with a hamstring strain.

Phillies signed highly-touted IF Scott Kingery to a six-year deal.

Joe D’s Rules on Betting Baseball: First, don’t ever lay above -$1.40. A few losses of -$1.40 or more puts you in the negative and in a spot where you must win. Next, shop around. A few pennies don’t sound like much but in a long, seven month season, with games every day, pennies add up.

Opening Day’s Best Bets
