Warriors to repeat as NBA champs, Tiger will retire

There were some great sports stories in 2015, but I am expecting 2016 to be a watershed year in sports.

I love the prediction business and enjoy hearing what other people come up with as the next big story. I do have a bunch of my own, so let’s get started.

• The Golden State Warriors will repeat as champions in the NBA just like I think the New England Patriots will in the NFL. I don’t see anyone in either league good enough to beat these two reigning champions. The Patriots will beat the Carolina Panthers, led by their MVP quarterback Cam Newton.

• This next prediction might be bold but every prediction can’t be an easy one. In baseball the Chicago Cubs will make the playoffs as a wildcard again, but will lose the wild card game and again disappoint their fans. The Cubs are favored to win and that has never been a good thing for this club. It will be 106 years since they won a World Series and still counting!

• Tiger Woods will retire after 2016. His injuries and other events outside of golf have derailed the champion. With less stress, he will start enjoying his life and his children, who are growing up. I believe Tiger doesn’t think he can win anymore, and for a competitor like him, then there’s no point. With limited golf appearances this year, he will decide to call it quits at the end of the year, but what a run he has had!

Those are my predictions for 2016. Happy New Year!
