Las Vegas, now the summer basketball capital of the world, has added another jewel to its crown with the announcement that WNBA All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, home of the Las Vegas Aces.
WNBA President Lisa Borders made the official announcement on Saturday.
Las Vegas is also home to the popular NBA Summer League where rookies and 2nd year players represent their teams in a series of games culminating in a championship tournament, in addition to various AAU sanctioned games and tournaments for youngsters.
Borders said, “Las Vegas fans have enthusiastically supported the Aces in their first season and will now have the chance to see the best players in the world compete on the same court next summer.”
Las Vegas Aces President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Bill Laimbeer added, “In Las Vegas, putting on a show is what we do and next summer will be no different. We expect to provide the WNBA players and fans with an experience like nothing they have seen before.”
The 2018 WNBA regular season runs through Aug. 19 with the playoffs begin on Aug. 21.
