Tigers vs. Seminoles will be fun BCS championship

Auburn vs. FSU…this will be fun.

The Tigers vs. the Seminoles will be fun to watch as the SEC takes on the ACC for the 2014 BCS championship. Both of these teams have a lot to be proud of.

Let’s start with the Tigers of Auburn. Head coach Gus Malzahn has done a masterful job with this team as they have an impressive record of 12-1, including going 11-2 against the spread. This run includes 10 straight covers and two miracle straight up wins against Georgia and Alabama.

In regards to the total, the Tigers have been a dead OVER team in their past eight contests as they have cashed the OVER in 7 of 8. This should not be a surprise as this team has scored at least 34 points in their last eight games.

Let’s talk Seminoles football. What a story this team has been, going undefeated at 13-0 and covering 11 of their 13 games. The only two teams they did not cover the number against were Boston College and NC State. Ten of their 13 games have gone OVER the closing total.

At press time FSU was favored by 8½ with the total set at 65½. The game takes place Monday night Jan. 6 in Pasadena.

Let’s transition into NFL. What a crazy game between the Lions and Eagles. The total was set at 51 even though six inches of snow dumped on the field. Midway through the third quarter only 8 points had been scored. From that point on no less than 46 points were scored as the Eagles turned it on and the Lions do what they have always done, found a way to lose.

Let’s take a look at the teams that are making and costing you money this year. The Seahawks and the Cardinals have been the two best ATS teams going 9-4 against the number. The Bears, Texans and Redskins have been and continue to be money burners at the bet window, only covering eight times all year between them.

What about totals? The Broncos continue to light up the scoreboard with 11 of their 13 games flying OVER the closing total. The Carolina Panthers, with a much improved defense, have collected the money all but three times in regards to the UNDER.

I am in the Finals of the Friday Football Showdown from the Golden Nugget Sports as I take on Paul Stone. First place is $20,000 and second is $5,000. We handicap our top seven plays, college or pro, ATS and/or totals.

Moving forward betting sports I am reminded of the words of my friend and living sports betting legend Lem Banker: “Bet with your head, not over it.”
