Knowing the name of the official mascot for U.C. Davis is GunRock is not necessary to place your bet on the upcoming matchup between U.C. Davis and U.C. Santa Barbara, even if it is an interesting story.

Nor is knowing the mascot is a mustang, named in honor of a cavalry horse that dates back to 1921, going to do you any good when it comes to choosing a winner. It is pretty interesting tidbit of information.

Understanding that the team’s name, Aggies, stems from it’s agricultural roots, is also not something that will help you to know who’s going to win. Lastly, learning that there has been support by the student body to change the official mascot to a cow, won’t do you any good.

What will help is knowing these two teams will be participating in what might be a shootout that comes down to the wire and that choosing a side might be tough. The odds put the Aggies at -2, but this one could come down to the buzzer, and it could be a one-point game when everything is said and done.

Consider looking at the total, which was hovering at 141 or possibly take the Gauchos to cover. Whenever a dog might come out on top, you’re better off taking the dog. UC Davis won its last game in overtime 105-104 against Long Beach State. The Aggies are on a streak, winning their last four games in a row.

It’s tough to go against a winning streak, so keep in mind Long Beach State kept it close and the Aggies did not cover. The Over is 9-1 in UCSB’s last 10 road games and the team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 road games. UCSB is 11-4 ATS in its last 15 Thursday games. The Over is 12-3 in UC Davis’ last 15 overall and 6-2 in the last 8 vs. Big West teams. Davis is also 19-7-3 ATS in its last 29 home games.

Best Bet – Take OVER 141
