Now, if we can get 7 TDs from Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler

It was good to see the NFL bring some semblance of order with the defense played this past Sunday. I was worried after Denver’s Peyton Manning tied an NFL record with 7 touchdown passes against the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens that every game was going to be 61-47.

Thankfully, that didn’t happen and maybe the Manning-type of game for Denver will be the exception not the rule. On Sunday there was actually some pretty good defense played – at least by today’s standards.

Chicago QB Jay Cutler showed leadership and cool with a come-from-behind-win against Cincinnati. First year head coach Marc Trestman called a great game and never panicked. Cutler is in a contract year and playing for a new deal under Trestman and GM Phil Emery, who inherited him. Look for focus from Cutler – no pouting, big smiles and, hopefully, a solid year.

Cutler has been known, at times, not to answer the bell, but if he can deliver in a big way and get the job done this year, he will get a $20 million dollar-plus a year deal. It’s a no-brainer if the Bears make the playoffs. If not – stay tuned.

I want to thank the Godfather of hosts, Pat Traficant from M Resort, and all the staff for accommodating my wife, Be-Be, and me on our recent visit. In the years we have been visiting Las Vegas we have met many wonderful people, and Pat is at the top of the list.

Also, thanks to Jim Beckman and the Score Be The Legend sports attraction at the Luxor. I did my Fox sports radio show in the onsite broadcast studio while in town. Check out the Hall of Fame – it is definitely something to see. See ya next week!
