The Patriots need to win this game puts Bills at disadvantage

Doc’s finished up the college football season with an overall record of 21-23-1 and in Week 15 of the NFL regular season we went 1-2 on our top three picks for GamingToday.

Despite the recent down turn, we remain more than confident our top three selections for the final week of NFL regular season games will find their way to the winner’s circle.

We look to improve on our 22-25-1 overall record after taking a week off. Here are our top three NFL selections for Week 17.

Take TENNESSEE -7: The Titans may be playing for pride this Sunday in front of the hometown crowd at LP Field, but this is still a division game against a bitter rival in Houston. Tennessee is coming off a 20-16 victory over Jacksonville this past Sunday as a 4-point home favorite for its first win of the season in the division.

You know the Titans would love to end the year on a winning note by avenging a Week 2 loss to the Texans as 7.5-point underdogs on the road. That Week 2 victory was the last time the Texans won a game. Since then have come 13 straight defeats in what has to be one of the worst slides from one season to the next in the history of the NFL.

The Texans are simply horrible on both sides of the ball with an offense that is ranked 31st in the NFL in scoring points (17.7) complementing a defense that is ranked 26th in points allowed (27.5).

Take WASHINGTON +3½: The Redskins are another first to worst story this season after following up last year’s 10-6 and NFC East title run with a 3-12 mark heading into the finale. The current losing streak reached seven games with a 24-23 heart breaker against Dallas this past Sunday, but they finally showed some signs of life by covering as a 2.5-point home underdog.

The Giants never recovered from a devastating 0-6 start. Even squeezing out a 23-20 overtime victory over Detroit as 9.5-point road underdogs, they have been riding out the string as well at 6-9 both straight-up and against the spread. New York has failed to cover in 5 of its last 7 home games.

While the Giants might get the SU win in its season finale, the current half point on the spread tips the scale in a game decided by a field goal.

Take NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots clinched the AFC East after hammering Baltimore 41-7 as a 2.5-point road favorite, but there is work left to be done in order to secure a much needed first round bye. The Patriots were in playoff form in the romp over the Ravens so there is little reason to believe they will not roll over a division rival this Sunday at home.

The Patriots are 19-1 SU against Buffalo in the last 20 meetings and 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Foxborough. The past trends alone are enough to go against the Bills, but the fact the Patriots still need to win this game puts Buffalo at a major disadvantage.

The Bills have won their last two games to climb to 6-9 SU, but will have a hard time keeping pace with an offense that is ranked 29th in the league in passing and 23rd in points (21.3).
