Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Irish works for me

Dec 8, 2015 3:01 AM

The stage is set and we have the official final four in the college football playoffs with Michigan State getting 9.5 points vs. Alabama in the Cotton Bowl and undefeated Clemson getting 3.5 from Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in what will be two good games.

A few other good matchups will be Notre Dame getting 6 from Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. I will be running out and laying the 6 points ASAP. Iowa, who could have been in the Cotton Bowl, takes on Stanford in the Rose Bowl and Stanford is a 6.5 point favorite.

In the Sugar Bowl we get Ole Miss as a touchdown favorite vs. Oklahoma State in another attractive New Year’s Day game. The other good game on New Year’s Day will be Tennessee battling Northwestern in the Outback Bowl. On New Year’s Eve, Houston is getting 7 points from Florida State as the Cougars earn a big pay day.

With the three New Year’s Eve games and all the good ones on New Year’s Day, just get out and bet those parlay cards early. Stock up on the beer, wine and grub, sit back, enjoy and stay off the roads, especially if you have had a few. The worst thing that can happen is getting in a wreck or being pulled over. You don’t want a DUI with a winning ticket in your pocket. That would not be driving around lucky.

With no college football games this week (apologies to Army-Navy) we will look at several NFL matchups with the hopes of putting together a parlay and teaser.

NFL

NFL Last Week: 1-1-0

NFL Season: 12-12-0

Thursday

Vikings +7.5 at Cardinals: On the surface after getting humiliated by Seattle at home and the Cardinals beating up on the Rams on the road this past Sunday you would think Arizona looks like a free parlay card bingo square. Not so fast as we look and find out the Cards have gone 0-13 ATS when coming off a division road game and back-to-back road games. They are also 0-9 ATS at home off a division road game and back-to-back wins. We will be taking the points with the Vikes in a rebound game and teasing them up to +13.5. VIKINGS.

Sunday

Steelers +3.5 at Bengals: In their first meeting this year in Pittsburgh the game was a pick em and Cincy came away with a 16-10 win. Big Ben comes off a big win vs. the Colts on Sunday when scoring 45 points. The striped cats have gone 8-0 ATS as a home favorite when coming off back-to-back wins and facing a team coming off an ATS win. Cincy is also 9-0 ATS coming off a win and playing a team off a double digit win. The Steelers have gone 0-7 ATS away after scoring 35 or more points and allowing 10 or less points in that game. They beat the Colts 45-10. All roads lead to a Bengals win and cover as they sweep the series. If any coach can blow a game it’s Mike Tomlin. We will be buying this game down. BENGALS -3 (-120, buy down).

Lions +1 at Rams: The question will be if the Lions can recover from a horrible bad beat loss to the Packers in their last game. We think so. Detroit has had some extra days to recover and the Rams have left their offense in California. The last time they scored 20 or more points was back on Nov. 1 when beating the 49ers 27-6. Since then they have scored 18, 13, 13, 7, 3. We will take the Lions and tease them to +7. LIONS +1

Patriots -3.5 at Texans: This game has been moved to the late show on NBC and that is just fine with this bettor. I just don’t see Brady and company losing the trifecta. The Texans are coming off a road loss to the Bills and now are sandwiched between the Bills road loss and this home game with an angry Brady. Houston then must go on the road and play back-to-back road games. We also see the Texans have gone 0-7 ATS when sitting at .500 or better as a dog of +3 or more points before playing a division road game, which they have next week. We will be buying down again PATRIOTS -3 (-120, buy down).

Next week we will be taking a look at some of the early bowl games as we start to get into full gear. Always remember to get off that couch and make some bets. You never know, you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
