Happy Anniversary, Eileen, on 40 years with GamingToday. Like me you’re a lifer.
I remember when Chuck Di Rocco and you were in that tiny storefront on Industrial Road putting in long hours putting out Sports Form, the precursor of GamingToday.
I’d visit you two and me, being the third person in that cramped office, made it a crowd. It was actually a workshop more than a headquarters for Sports Form “News You Can Bet On.”
The Feds are still after Billy Walters, he was arrested again. Over the years they’ve indicted him three times trying to convince judges, Grand Jury’s or anyone who would listen that he was a bookie.
One agent was obsessed with trying to “get” Billy. Every case this particular agent invented was thrown out since it was evident Billy was betting not booking. These new charges are not gambling related per se so it’s a new season.
Will Las Vegas get an NFL franchise? Not at this time in my opinion. NFL owners are more than half smart. They will wait for cover before entering Las Vegas. They realize even a dreaded hint of scandal will be devastating.
Forget if it’s true, false or the invention of a reporter making a name for him/herself. Doesn’t have to be factual, the media makes stuff up on a regular basis. My opinion is Las Vegas will have an NFL team when the rest of the country has sports betting, which will happen.
I see Malaysia-based Genting Group is again going ahead with their $4 billion hotel where The Old Stardust once stood. I wonder how many forgotten cans they’ll dig up. I might know where a couple are supposed to be buried. Our fan club is getting smaller as the years fly by but we miss those days.
It’s the smart move setting up here instead of Asia – better neighborhood. The Chi-Coms have motives and a plan. They are going back on their word, treaty be damned.
China is currently moving on the Special Administrative Region (SAR) of Hong Kong, and it’s plain to anyone paying attention the close-by Special Administrative Region of Macau is next. Those are the only two SARs belonging to China and they’ve already begun their move.
The governments in China are elected for 10 year terms. This one, in three years, has shown to be very intent on flexing their muscles in the spirit of Mao, but what do I know. Take care.
