Professional handicappers seem to be favoring Panthers slightly

This week’s Thursday night match up features the Philadelphia Eagles against the Carolina Panthers.

If you talk to a lot of the professional handicappers, they seem to be favoring the Panthers slightly.  The line right now has the Panthers -3, which means it’s a pretty even matchup.  Being that the Panthers have the home field advantage, and the Eagles are coming off of a short rest, the line seems about right.

I’m not so sure Carolina is going to end up on top., though. Reason being, although Cam Newton is showing significant signs of improvement as far as his being able to put numbers on the board the Eagles offensive line is doing an amazing job as well.  It’s difficult to gage where Cam will end up, but in his last two games he has scored an average of 30 points.   However, last week Carson Wentz, the quarterback for the Eagles posted a perfect passer rating in the first quarter against the Arizona Cardinals, and he has been consistently good.

Both teams have a 4-1 record and lead their respective divisions.  Taking the total might be a better option than choosing a side.  The total is 45½ and Carolina’s defense has given up on average a total of 28 points in their three games.  Until last week, the Eagles had given up double digits in every game and scored an average of 27.

Look for this week’s final score to fall somewhere above 50+ and take the OVER.  Either team might win, but both seem well positioned to score.
