After a .500 week, aka a juice out, in the Takeover I will go back to the sport that has been red hot for me lately – the NBA. But before I get into the plays this week let me give a you a little sports news going on around Las Vegas to keep your eye on.
Las Vegas Lights
Believe it or not Vegas has a professional soccer team that starts play in 2018. It’s not Major League Soccer (MLS) but the United Soccer League (USL). This is the right plan to grow the soccer market in the city and eventually give Cashman Field the updates it needs after the Las Vegas 51s Triple A baseball team moves to its new stadium in Summerlin, projected for 2019.
Announced recently, the Lights will host preseason games against MLS clubs Montreal Impact (Feb. 10) Vancouver Whitecaps (Feb. 17) and DC United (Feb. 24). Right now season ticket holders receive a free jersey with purchase. Season tickets feature a minimum of 20 games plus the added MLS preseason matches. Prices are $200-$600 for the season, with a VIP $1,400 that includes complimentary beer, soda and small snacks, with access to the Club Restaurant. You can also buy tables for the restaurant from $1,000 to $4,500.
The first head coach in franchise history was named recently, Jose Luis Sanchez Sola, or Chelis as he is known by most soccer fans. He has Liga MX experience as well as a stint with Chivas USA, a former MLS club.
Needless to say Vegas seems to be at the top of the list for professional sports looking to expand There are rumors all over town that the NBA is next!

Listeners have heard Big Dave and me roll off 37-11 ATS in the last eight weeks of the NFL combined! Catch our plays and stay for the banter.
Heat at Cavs (-3, 209.5): LeBron James and Dwyane Wade host their former club. This is especially a new experience for DWade, who spent his entire career in Miami. Part of the problem with the Cavs right now is you just aren’t sure which team you are getting each night. They will have played at Philadelphia by the time you read this and while I would rather have had the Cavs lose to Philly to really like this play, it should still be safe regardless. CAVS
Nuggets at Jazz (-1.5, 207.5): Utah saw Denver on opening night and came away with the victory. Jazz have been strong at home this year, 8-4, while the Nuggets are only 3-6 away from Denver. After a rough stretch losing Rudy Gobert, Utah has put it together recently winning three of four. However, that came against lesser competition. NUGGETS
Bucks at Kings (-7, 198.5): Seeing this total I have to say I am bit surprised. Even though both teams are struggling this seems like a game both will believe they can win. I expect this to be one of those monster nights for Giannis Antetokounmpo. OVER
Giants at Raiders (-7.5, 42.5): Call me crazy but this total seems really low. The Giants have struggled on offense the past couple weeks but that’s because the receiving crew is at the bottom of the depth chart for Eli Manning. If Sterling Shepard comes back this week it’s a great over play. OVER
Eagles (-4.5, 47) at Seahawks: Holy shootout Batman, are you kidding me 47? Listen, I expect the Eagles D to give Russell Wilson hell as well but what D hasn’t? The guy always finds a way to score TDs. It’s likely this is closer than people expect but I think both teams will be able to put the ball in the endzone regularly. OVER
