LA Rams coach Sean McVay has a chance to join Vince Lombardi as the only ones in league history to have taken over a team that had gone at least 10 straight seasons with no better than a .500 record and guide them to a winning mark in his first year in control.
Los Angeles Rams (8-3) at Arizona Cardinals (5-6)
Time: 1:25 p.m.
Line: Rams by 7 (44.5)
Facts: In Week 7, the Rams earned one of their three victories of 30-plus points in a 33-0 win over the Cardinals in London. Not even the Greatest Show on Turf Super Rams had that many big wins in 1999. In the 2016 season finale, however, Arizona went to LA and whipped the Rams 44-6... QB Blake Gabbert, after injuries to starter Carson Palmer and backup Drew Stanton, got his first win as a Cardinal last week against Jacksonville, 27-24... The Rams have burned through five head coaches without having a winning season before going with Sean McVay to start this year... The Cardinals could be without bell cow RB Adrian Peterson (questionable, neck).
Forecast: Even without Peterson, who had only 21 yards on 11 carries the last time he faced the Rams, the Cardinals figure to be in trouble. Although Arizona did a decent job bottling up Jags RB Fournette last week, dealing with the Rams’ speedy Todd Gurley is entirely different. He had 154 yards of total offense in that earlier rout. And, of course, LA quarterback Jared Goff also has more weapons to throw to. Gabbert pretty much only has Larry Fitzgerald, who was held to 28 yards on three catches in that first meeting.
Forecast: Rams 27, Cardinals 13
