When you do your worst that’s when the real work starts.
For William Mandis, that moment was Week 12. After picking only four winners out of 13 games, Mandis regrouped, and finished 140-87-2 to win the GamingToday Big Dog and Ollie Football Challenge.
“I went down seven games in the standings to second place (after Week 12),” Mandis, a D.C. native and huge Redskins fan, said. “I said to myself, I have a great chance to win this thing, but need to have a big week and then stay consistent by keeping above a .500 winning percentage the rest of the contest.”
From there Mandis turned it on, going 13-1-1 against the spread in Week 13. He ended up winning the contest by five games and finished with a 61.6% ATS record.
With the win Mandis earned a two-night stay at South Point, two tickets to the South Point Big Game party, complimentary dinner for two at Silverado Steak House and two complimentary tickets to the Garden Buffet.
When asked how he was able to do so well in the contest Mandis gave a lot of credit to the sportsbook minds in Las Vegas.
“What really stood out in learning from the podcasts (Cash Considerations, VSiN) was learning to really appreciate the contrarian point of view and opening my mind; listening to the reasoning behind what the people had to say. I learned to pick games by strickly looking at the numbers and information presented. The situation that presented itself for each team from a week to week basis! I learned to not go by the results of the previous Sunday, but look at the season as a whole.”
Sounds like getting educated about how to bet NFL games and really doing your homework paid off for Mr. Mandis, and we hope he enjoyed his time at the South Point.
Congrats to him and all the weekly winners, and thanks for supporting GT and its Big Dog contest.
