Big week in football as the NFL preseason is in Week 3, which if you were ever in a play in high school or college and had your final rehearsal, this is it.
We will have two plays for you plus attack the beginning of college football this Saturday with two selections but first, let’s get down to the first five races Wednesday at Del Mar.
Results from last week were spotty. We ran first and second in the first race, dealt with a scratch in the second but the chalk won. In the third leg we ran second, in race four our horse won paying a nice $11 and came in second with a scratch in race five.
This Wednesday at Del Mar:
Race 1: Optional $40K fillies and mares travel 1-3/8 on the grass. We will start with using just two runners in here. No. 1 Siberian Iris, who had a nice prep for this on Aug. 11 and now gets her second start off the layoff. She is sitting on her best. No. 5 Mybluebell gets a class drop and her third start in the states. Back in France she was a marathon runner. She will love this trip. 1-5
Race 2: Maiden 2yo travel a mile on the dirt in what is a wide open affair. We will use three 2yo who are exiting the same race. No. 1 Jefe has been a rallying third in both of his starts at 6 furlongs. No. 2 Gunmetal Gray gets his second start for Jerry Hollendorfer off a nice last work. No. 7 Parsimony spilt these two last out but has a big time last work. 2-7-1
Race 3: Starter allowance fillies and mares go 6-1/2 furlongs. We will need to go four deep in here using No. 2 Lovely Raquel off a big win here on Aug. 2 and first off the layoff. She came back with a big last work here on the 17th. No. 3 Winsinfashion gets a class drop and also owns a big last work. No. 5 Sauce On Side comes off the layoff for Peter Miller who has owned this meet. No. 6 Tiz Toffee is a maiden facing winners and just missed here with $62,500 maidens by a neck last out. She also has a good last work. 2-3-5-6
Race 4: Maiden 2yo fillies go five furlongs on the grass. No. 3 Data Storm Kitty exits our HTW list and gets her second start. Has jockeys Rafael Bejarano aboard and owns a big last work. No. 8 Candura gets her first start for John Sadler and the hot riding Drayden Van Dyke gets the call. This filly worked best of 68 runners here on the 16th. She is live. 3-8
Race 5: $20K maiden fillies and mares go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Queen Shelly Ann drops in from straight maiden races and has a big last work. No. 6 Tengs Rhythm has finished in the money in all six of her starts including second in the last three; I think her win spirit is in question. No. 10 Belle Monte gets her first start off the Peter Miller claim and a nose loss here at this level last out. She will be gunning from the bell. 2-10-6
Eagles -2 at Browns (42): Just a horrible spot for the Browns here with the defending champs all dressed to defend their title and coming off a big loss last week in Beantown. Look for the Eagles to exert their prowess and get the big win. EAGLES
Ravens NL at Dolphins: Revenge again. In Week 1 we had the first revenge winner in the Bengals who avenged a 33-7 loss. Last week the Patriots got somewhat even from the Super Bowl loss to Philly. This week we will be on the revenge minded Dolphins who will try and win one for the departing fan base if they only have their minds on the game. The Fish were slaughtered in Baltimore last year 41-0 and the blackbirds come off a short week as they played Monday. DOLPHINS
Wyoming -4 at N. Mexico St. (46): Little to no movement on this game. The Aggies got in and won their first bowl game in 57 years. Does the momentum continue? Wyoming will have their entire defense back from last year’s eight-win team but no Josh Allen at QB who is a rich man in the NFL. The Cowboys should get the win in a low scoring game. WYOMING
Hawaii +14 at Colorado St. (57.5): The Rams opened up as a -16 point chalk over the Rainbow Warriors. The last five meetings have all been Rams as they have gone 5-0 ATS. Hawaii in rebuilding mood this year so a real question mark. The Rams also lost a lot of starters, but we think on the road is not a good spot to for the Bows to start a rebuilding season. COLORADO ST.
Have a great and lucky week as you just never know when you are walking around lucky. So get out and play those machines, bet the games and the ponies, have fun.
