If NFL Week 1 bargains for DraftKings was a Google search, last week’s article helped tremendously.
Recommendations included Ravens’ Joe Flacco, the lowest salary QB, who made the Top 10 with 21.74 fantasy points. Colts’ Jack Doyle was the No. 6 TE (12 points), Titans’ Dion Lewis No. 9 RB (22) and finally Redskins’ Chris Thompson No. 5 overall RB (24.8).
The remaining picks of Browns QB Tyrod Taylor (24.58) and Chiefs QB Alex Smith (19.6) offered solid returns. Only the Top 3 WR bargains were a bit of a letdown.
Captain Obvious: Keenan Allen, WR, LAC ($7,800). Buffalo has to prove they can stop someone before you stop using their opponents in fantasy. Last week Ravens QB Joe Flacco cut up the Bills so easily my Diamond (Alex Collins) barely touched the football. Projection: 7 catches, 141 yards, 2TD.
Diamond in the Rough: T.J. Yeldon, RB, JAC ($5,600). With Leonard Fournette already hurt, Yeldon is the type of new school back lighting up the NFL. Against the Pats, the game plan should be get the ball out of Blake Bortles hands quickly and Yeldon would benefit greatly. Projection: 54 yards, 8 catches, 67 yards, TD.
Top 3 QB Bargains: Blake Bortles, JAC ($5,400), Ryan Fitzpatrick, TB ($5,500) Ryan Tannehill, MIA ($5,300).
Top 2 QB/RB duos: Bortles/Yeldon, JAC ($5,400/$5,600), Tannehill/Frank Gore, MIA ($5,300/$3,900).
Top 3 WR Bargains: Cooper Kupp, LAR ($5,500), Trent Taylor, SF ($3,900), Sammy Watkins, KC ($4,600).
Always remember, you need stars to win at daily fantasy, but it’s the bargains that will push you over the top. For example, last week’s list? No. 2 overall RB scorer Steelers’ James Conner ($4,500) 38.2 fantasy points. No. 3 overall WR Tampa’s DeSean Jackson ($4,600) 34.6 points. No. 1 QB Bucs’ Ryan Fitzpatrick ($5,000) 45.28 points! No. 3 defense Cleveland Browns ($2,000) 16 points.
Remember, bargains plus stars win in daily fantasy.
