If you like glitz and glamor, this is your week.

It starts Wednesday night when, for the second straight year, the Palms hosts hockey’s biggest stars at the 2011 NHL Awards. Celebrities from music, stage and screen show up for the Red Carpet arrival and awards ceremony, which Las Vegas took over after years in Toronto. Comedian Jay Mohr (lower left) will host the event, which will be televised live on Versus (VS). You may even shake the hand of Boston’s Stanley Cup winning goalie Tim Thomas if you’re lucky.

Then this Thursday through Saturday head over to South Point for the 19th Annual Casino Collectibles Convention – the world’s largest display of its type. The show is open to the public Thursday (10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Friday (10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). There is no admission charge on Saturday. The show will feature seminars and live auctions of casino chips and memorabilia.
