I’ve been playing a lot of poker on the Strip and when you get hungry from a long session you take a break and grab some food. I decided to check out the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of Bally’s.
Giordano’s has opened, bringing authentic Chicago-style deep-dish pizza to Las Vegas. Giordano’s has been in Chicago since 1974 and what makes its deep dish so different is it’s stuffed, huge and loaded with toppings baked right inside.
Because of the thickness and density of these pizzas they will take about 40 minutes to bake. If you are not a fan of the deep dish you can also order a hand-stretched thin crust or an extra crispy thin crust pizza.
If you are looking for a light bite check out some of their appetizers, including Fried Mozzarella Triangles, Calamari, Bruschetta or their cheesy garlic bread. Can’t decide? Go with the Giordano’s Sampler, which has a sampling of Boneless Wings, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Mozzarella Triangles and Potato Fritters. There is enough to share on this platter, and priced at $13.95 it is very reasonable, considering you are sitting at the most famous intersection on the Strip.
In addition to all their pizzas they have a nice selection of sandwiches. You have to have an Italian Beef sandwich if you’re a restaurant from Chicago, and they have a good one. It’s served with sweet peppers, a spicy giardiniera and a cup of beef jus on the side for dipping.
This sandwich was great and what really set it over the top was the Italian roll it was served on. I highly recommend the Italian Beef, and the Meatball sub is on the same Italian roll so I am sure it’s great, too.
On a different visit I tried the Chicken Parmesan and was quite surprised how good it was and even more impressed with the size of the portion and price. It came with a side of pasta and garlic bread all for just $13.95 for a single serving or $24.95 for a family platter that serves 2-3 people.
Considering there are places charging $19 for a hot dog on the Strip, you can get a quality meal with a nice view for under $14.
For dessert they have Tiramisu and Triple Layer Chocolate Cake but my favorite would be the Cannoli’s. You can get three minis for $3.95, which again is very reasonable. My service was great and remember, if you are ordering the deep-dish pizza be patient as it takes 40 minutes to cook.
Giordano’s will do well given the quality of food, the location and the prices. I give it a rating of 3.75 Forks.
