Who can believe it – one day melts into another – but the happy lives around us keep us from getting into the summer doldrums.

Last week, I mentioned KC and The Sunshine Band. Well, you can see them at Palace Station along with the Village People on Sept. 15. This should be a wild, memory lane, great show and I will definitely be there! Tickets are already on sale so get yours soon.

The Boulder Blues featuring Joe Louis Walker will be at the Railhead at Boulder Station on Thursday, Aug 2,  and then Anthony Gomes will be featured on Aug. 15, and finally, Chris Duarte on Sept. 6. All of you blues lovers – this is THE spot for live blues entertainment.

RBRM – Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike – will be at The Sandbar at Red Rock on Friday, Sept. 7. This Saturday, Aug. 4, it will be Whitesnake. Blue Oyster Cult is set for Friday, Aug. 31, at Green Valley Ranch. At the Santa Fe Station, jazz great Keiko Matsui will be performing on Saturday, Aug. 11, and Toto is set for the Sunset Station outdoor amphitheater Friday, Aug. 10.

Laugh with Gaff

If you missed fabulous comedian Jim Gaffigan on July 20, you can now get tickets for him for his Nov. 30 show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. It is called the Fixer Upper Tour and it is hilarious. I like the way the AEGLive group, John Nelson and Melissa Adams, keep up with the latest and greatest – the super nova stars of song and also the greatest comedians. Las Vegas was built on heavy giggles and keeping that tradition alive is something we all enjoy!

Mad about George

I must get a second taste of the great George Wallace at the cabaret at the Westgate. He is truly a multi-faceted entertainer and writer – he used to write for Red Foxx’s TV sitcom way back when. You can catch him Tuesday through Saturdays.

Also at Westgate, Jen Kramer is doing some of her lovely magic and of course, the main man, Barry Manilow, is giving audiences his all. What a thrill to see this fantastic performer, musician and entertainer.

T&M treat

The Harlem Globetrotters make their court side splash at the Thomas and Mack Center on Sunday, Aug. 12. I grew up watching these rotating players have a ball with the basketball! They are fantastic players who do this for fun; it is not a pro team but rather a pro entertainment team.

Mesquite my way

If you want to make a getaway, take short ride to Mesquite and visit CasaBlanca, which has many specials for return guests and members of its players club. They offer golf packages, spa packages, food specials, fun entertainment, and great gambling action.

A bit away from the madding crowd, CasaBlanca is one of my favorite retreats. I love their spa treatments, too! They have some talented people working in that spa.

At the cinema

“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” went somewhere else in this translation. I thought it was terrible, like a really bad junior high school (or middle school) musical with all the wrong cuts, portrayals, dance that was so stereotyped. Take it from Monti, if you loved the first mamma Mia do not bother seeing this one.

On the other hand, “Skyscraper” got me going. Dwayne Johnson is masterful in this action/adventure flick now at most theaters. What a great escape, summer movie. “The Equalizer 2” is also sensational. Denzel Washington redeems himself from the first film in this series. It has much more of the original TV series going on and is definitely a much better written and produced film.

Pre-movie I had a great early dinner with friends Buca di Beppo. This is a fun, kitschy place on West Lake Mead near Buffalo that is going strong after over 18 years at the same location. The food is comfort style Italian, really well-prepared and served family style, which is meant to be shared. Love the staff, too.

Special memorial

Ben, husband of my best friend of over 54 years Lu, passed away on Friday, July 27. It is with deep condolences and sympathy that I extend my love and hope for better tomorrows for her. Ben was a good and fine man, a devoted, loving husband and very special to Lu. I and the staff of Gaming Today wish her solace as she mourns the man who was her life’s love. Lu, may you find the strength from friends and family to get you through this traumatic period. Blessings, Ben, may your soul rest in peace.

Until next week… Monti and ZoZo wishing you a Happy August.
