Gorilla Sushi offers plenty of options

It has been a while since I did a review of a sushi place, so this week, I went to Gorilla Sushi.

Located at 1801 E. Tropicana Ave, Suite 2, Gorilla Sushi offers All You Can Eat pricing for both lunch and dinner. I went for dinner, which was $25.95. The lunch pricing is $20.95. Both lunch and dinner are well worth the price. The dinner menu has a few items that are not available for the lunch AYCE pricing.

Gorilla Sushi has over 40 different appetizers to choose from. Some of the ones I had that I liked were the Garlic Edamame, Fried Gyoza, Korean Kalbi (BBQ Beef Short Rib) and Shrimp Fried Rice. There was more I wanted to try but didn’t want to fill up on appetizers.

I had several nigiri sushi items – Garlic Tuna, Yellowtail, Halibut, Super White Tuna and an order of the Sexy Salmon. All of the sushi was fresh and tasty. My favorites were the Garlic Tuna and the Super White Tuna. I ordered seconds on the Super White.

On this visit, I was dining by myself. So when ordering rolls, usually I’m only going to get one or two at the very most because the rolls fill you up if you are eating by yourself. But at Gorilla Sushi you can order half rolls for most of the rolls. This is a great option, so you get to try more rolls before you fill up. Gorilla Sushi has close to 50 specialty rolls to choose from.

Some of the names of the rolls are quite funny. There is the “Just for the Halibut,” the “Who’s Your Daddy” and the “Baked Gorilla.” The Baked Gorilla consists of shrimp tempura, spicy crab, avocado, jalapeno inside a spicy tuna, halibut w/ spicy mayo, eel and garlic ponzu. Gorilla Sushi is one of the few All You Can Eat Sushi places that offers Ramen with their AYCE dinners.

Save some room for dessert as you get to pick one item from the menu which consists of Ice Cream, Mochi Ice Cream, Fried Ice Cream, Honey Toast, Crème Brule and Deep-Fried Bananas.

The wait staff is very friendly and they even put one of the TV’s on the Alabama-LSU game for me. I give Gorilla Sushi a rating of 3.75 Forks.
