Rockhouse rocks out at the Venetian

As regular readers to my column know, two of my favorite things in Las Vegas is playing Poker and eating.
Often times the two become one. I play a lot of Poker at the Venetian and usually while putting in a long session you are going to want to take a break and get something to eat. One of my favorites spots to grab a bite to eat is to head upstairs at the Venetian and go to Rockhouse.
Rockhouse is located in the Grand Canal Shoppes right across from Buddy V’s (another good place to grab a bite). Rockhouse is like that neighborhood Dive bar, only it’s located right on the Las Vegas Strip.
From shuffleboard to beer pong, you have a fun place to kick back and have some drinks with friends. There are three different full-service bars inside Rockhouse. Want to watch a game while enjoying a cold one? Rockhouse has you covered with 80 HDTVs throughout the venue.
There is live entertainment on Thursday nights. You can join the band and sing during Rockstar Karaoke -- the only full band karaoke on the Strip. On Friday and Saturday nights, Rockhouse features DJ’s spinning rock, top 40, and dance tracks.
Not only is the wait staff very friendly and attentive to you they are pretty easy on the eyes as well. I mean this is Las Vegas.
If you are craving a good burger, I highly recommend trying one of Rockhouse’s burgers. They pride themselves in the fact that all of their burgers are always fresh hamburger meat as they never use frozen patties. I can tell you I have had several cheeseburgers and bacon cheeseburgers over the years here and have never been disappointed.
For those not in the mood for a burger, I would highly recommend their chicken wings. You can get an order of 10 for $9.95. Their wings have a different taste to them as they poach them in beer before frying them. Just remember to wash your hands good before returning to the poker game as everyone loves wings, but nobody loves sticky wing fingers on the cards.
Save room for dessert. You can satisfy that sweet tooth with a deep-fried Twinkie or fried ice cream. I can’t guarantee eating at Rockhouse will make you run good at the poker table, but I can guarantee it will taste good. I give the Rockhouse 3.75 Forks.
