Fast food from scratch sounds like an oxymoron. Can you really have fast food from scratch?
Bok Bok Chicken believes you can and it’s the basis of their fast-growing company.
I had the pleasure of sampling most of the Bok Bok Chicken menu recently at their brand new location at 9595 West Tropicana Ave. This is Bok Bok Chicken’s third location in Las Vegas with two more set to open shortly. The concept of the restaurant as the owner Jacob Tchamanian stated is a labor of passion as all of the recipes used were those of his and his family’s.
I attended a private tasting and as he introduced each of the items we sampled, you could see the pride in the food they serve.
Having tried so many different items, I’m going to just talk about a few of my favorites. You can’t go to a Mediterranean restaurant and not start out with hummus and pita bread. The hummus was spot on and a great way to start the meal. My favorite appetizer was the Cheese Boreg, which was fried dough filled with cheeses, green onion, parsley and spices. These were amazing.
Next up were their soups, lentil and chicken noodle. Both were good, but my favorite was the chicken noodle.
Now it was on to some main courses. Their Shawerma Plate was very good and the amount of food you get for $12 is such a deal. You get flamed-broiled marinated beef served with rice pilaf, roasted tomato, piaz, fattoush and tahini. This plate will fill you up.
The beef was so good and I’m just going to say the rice pilaf is one of the best I’ve had in Las Vegas. You can also get a Chicken Plate for $12 that comes with a half a Rotisserie Chicken and fattoush.
Their chicken is incredibly moist and flavorful. Too often Rotisserie Chicken is dry and overcooked. But not here. The portions are big and present such value for food of this quality. You can get a whole chicken and fresh pita bread for $12 as well.
Save room for dessert because their Baklava was the perfect ending to a great meal. I also enjoyed their Gatnaboor which is Rice Pudding with cinnamon and rose water.
The staff was super friendly and attentive. I give Bok Bok Chicken 3.75 forks.
