For a number of years now sports bettors have been able to place wagers through their smart phone, laptop, iPad or computer once they open an account at a Nevada sportsbook. Sadly, those who enjoy wagering a bob or two on a horse race have been left at the gate – until now.

Several casinos now offer a betting app for horse racing. The newest of these is Station Casinos, which rolled out its race betting app last week. Actually, it is an update to its existing STN sports app (, but bettors do need to set up a separate horse racing account with a Station sportsbook, even if they already have a sports account.

Once the account is set up and you have the app on your device, you will be able to bet win, place, show, exactas, trifectas, pick 6’s, and more for Thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing.

Another casino that shot out of the starting gate with a horse betting option early this month is South Point, which launched its Nevada Race Book application that offers the convenience of placing real money wagers directly from a smart phone anywhere in Nevada.

The app gives you the ability to deposit money and collect winnings on your favorite race tracks. Odds and results from each race are also updated in real time.

“We came up with the idea for the app after seeing the success our Sports Book app was experiencing. Our guests were running into an issue where they wanted to place wagers but may have not had time to get to South Point during the race,” said Ryan Growney, South Point’s general manager. “By adding the… app to our racebook offerings, we… can allow race fans to bet on any race listed at South Point exponentially easier.”

You can get more info on how the application works at their website:\

These apps are definitely going to make Breeders’ Cup betting a lot easier.
