Boyd Gaming expands its stable especially in North Las Vegas

With the addition of three casinos to Boyd Gaming’s stable, we thought this would be a good time to review B Connected since all three are expected to merge into the club sometime this spring. We expect all club points to transfer over to B Connected.

Boyd Gaming recently completed its acquisition of Cannery Casino Resorts and just prior, in September, 2016, added Aliante Casino, Hotel and Spa. At Aliante, the Player’s Club card is still currently being used there; however you do need a B Connected card to receive credit for race and sportsbook wagers. The additional properties expand Boyd Gaming’s presence to 12 properties in Southern Nevada, and 24 properties nationwide.

B Connected is the universal slot club for Boyd Gaming, linking properties nationwide. Not including the new additions, there are currently seven locations in Las Vegas utilizing B Connected – the Gold Coast, Orleans, Sam’s Town, Suncoast and three downtown properties, California, Fremont and Main Street Station. While Jokers Wild Casino and Eldorado, both in Henderson, are part of Boyd, they currently are not online with B Connected and have their own club called Prime Rewards. (We reviewed Prime Rewards earlier in 2016.)

There are three tier levels of B Connected, each with their own unique set of rewards and benefits. Everyone starts out as a Ruby member. After earning 25,000 points players move up to Sapphire level and 250,000 points will move you into the prestigious Emerald level. Each level offers increasing benefits (a brochure is available at any B Connected club booth) but one unique feature is that any level card will get you 40 percent off meals when paying with points at any Boyd owned restaurant. Tier levels are reviewed monthly and upgraded immediately when you reach a new level. Locals retain their levels for six months from the date earned and destination travelers for 12 months. Points travel with you locally and nationally.

Every dollar wagered on video poker and slot machines earns you one comp point. At table games each $10 increment of average wager size will earn you about $1.50 in comps per hour. Comp points are worth $1 per 1,000 points for an initial cashback/comp rate of 0.10 percent. However, this is just the base rate for Ruby level. At Sapphire level, players automatically earn 2x points and at Emerald level, players earn 3x points.

Besides the base rates, once a player becomes a member, monthly mailers often include bonus point day multipliers and there are usually some bonus point days every month that are open to everyone. For example, B Connected’s Young at Heart program is currently running every Wednesday at all seven properties (with some restrictions for non-locals downtown.) If you’re age 50-plus you can win up to a 50x point multiplier when you swipe your card on Wednesdays.

Be sure to swipe prior to playing as there are no point adjustments afterward. Points at Boyd properties can be redeemed for cashback, free slot play and meals; they can also be used in the gift shops, salons, for rooms, shows and almost anything the hotels have to offer.

Gaming promotions vary at each property but each month you will likely find various bonus points days, gift giveaways, drawings, tournaments and more at each location. The downtown casinos generally run fewer overall promotions, but there is a good one open to everyone at Main Street Station called “Score With Four.”

Players hitting a four-of-a-kind or higher on video poker games receive a scratch card for cash, usually a few dollars, but there are a few rare cards worth $5,000! Turn on your machine’s service light to receive a scratch card when you hit a qualifying hand.

There are many individual property promotions going on at all Las Vegas Boyd casinos this month. Some have been or will be featured in “Reel Deals” throughout the month. Look for more promotions online at You can also visit the individual casinos or Google their names to find their current monthly promotions.
