What a weekend! Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby!
Cinco de Mayo
The Plaza’s Cinco de Mayo party is free to attend and will be under the bright lights of the property’s iconic dome beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. The party will feature a variety of entertainment including eight Lucha Libre wrestling matches.
A Mariachi band and Folklorico dancers will entertain guests under the dome and bring the festivities inside as they parade through the Plaza’s casino floor. A DJ will also be at the dome party spinning top radio hits with a mix of Latin music. The Plaza will again have downtown’s largest piñata with prizes, including cash, match play vouchers, free drink coupons and food vouchers.
Authentic food and drinks specials will be available all night long, including street tacos from Zaba’s Mexican Grill, margaritas, micheladas, Modelo beer and shots of Patron Tequila. For more information, visit www.plazahotelcasino.com.
SLS Las Vegas
Umami Burger, Beer Garden & Sports Book will celebrate Cinco de Mayo from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6 with a five-bottle, mix-and-match Mexican beer bucket for $17; Mexican beer and Cazadores Reposado tequila shot special for $7; and classic margaritas for $6.

Traditional music from local bands will be played throughout the event. The festival begins at 4 p.m., Saturday and will take over the parking lot, 2101 Texas Star Lane, North Las Vegas.
The casino will host a free Kentucky Derby handicapping seminar and raffle in the Cascade Lounge at 6 p.m., Friday. Join veteran handicapper Bob Ike and race and sports manager Duane Colucci. Ike will handicap each horse, giving guests a leg up on the race. All participants will be entered into a raffle drawing for free slot play that will be held during the seminar.
On Friday, CG Technology will host a complimentary Derby betting seminar to feature a panel of speakers who will educate attendees on betting basics, including identifying favorites and underdogs competing in the derby. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how the bookmaker sets lines, which may come in handy when placing bets. Following the complimentary seminar, The TC Martin Radio Show will broadcast live at 3 p.m. from the race and sportsbook. The seminar begins at 2 p.m.
Until next week… good luck and good gaming.
